Ich seh' dir in die Augen, Kleines. In Rick's Café in Casablanca kreuzen sich während des Zweiten Weltkriegs die Schicksale europäischer Emigranten. Der ungarische Widerstandskämpfer Victor Laszlo versucht mit seiner Frau Ilsa den Nazis zu entkommen. Nur der Amerikaner Rick könnte helfen, falsche Pässe zu besorgen, doch er erkennt in Ilsa seine ehemalige Geliebte, die ihn in Frankreich ohne Erklärung verlassen hat. Ein Liebespaar der Filmgeschichte: Humphrey Bogart als gebrochener Held, der nur durch Zynismus überlebt, Ingrid Bergman als Frau, die zwei Männer liebt und sich nicht entscheiden kann. Am   29. August   1952 - zehn Jahre nach seiner Entstehung - kam der Film Casablanca in die deutschen Kinos, und das auch erst, nachdem man alle Szenen herausgeschnitten hatte, in denen Männer in SS-Uniformen zu sehen waren. Erst 1975 war auch in Deutschland eine originalgetreue Version des Kult-Filmes zu sehen.
